I recently attended a portfolio diversification workshop at which I was a consultant.
It was interesting to hear about the thoughts of another professional investor on the UK housing market and also the Chinese stock market.
Personally I am currently invested in the Chinese stock market based on my expertise and contacts in Hong Kong, China. I have made a portfolio gain of 15% in the last 1 month.
The attitude though is negative in sentiment and I would not be investing based on the opinion of professional Western investors.
The idea that “when two cleaning ladies are featured in the newspaper for having made a fortune overnight” is a signal that the market is toppish is an amusing and important one.
The thoughts of a fund manager for INVESCO regarding the UK housing market were that the UK housing market will correct 30-40% in the next few years. This would mean a property currently on the market for £150,000 could be worth only £90,000 to £105,000 if the correction fully hits that particular area.
